Intel® Desktop Board DG41TX
System memory for DG41TX

System Memory Features
The board has two DIMM sockets and supports the following memory features:

  • 1.9 V, 2.0 V, and 2.1 V DDR3 SDRAM DIMMs with gold plated contacts, with the option to raise the voltage to support higher performance DDR3 SDRAM DIMMs
  • Dual channel interleaved mode support
  • Unbuffered, single-sided or double-sided DIMMs with the following restriction: Double-sided DIMMs with x16 organization are not supported.
  • 4 GB maximum total system memory.
  • Minimum total system memory: 512 MB
  • Non-ECC DIMMs
  • Serial Presence Detect
  • DDR3 800 MHz, DDR3 1066 MHz, DDR3 1333 (OC) MHz SDRAM DIMMs

To be fully compliant with all applicable Intel ® SDRAM memory specifications, the board should be populated with DIMMs that support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. If your memory modules do not support SPD, you will see a notification to this effect on the screen at power up. The BIOS will attempt to configure the memory controller for normal operation.

Supported Memory Configurations

DIMM Capacity Configuration SDRAM Density SDRAM Organization Front-side/Back-side Number of SDRAM Devices
1 GB Single sided 1 Gbit 1 Gb x 8 / empty 8
2 GB Double sided 1 Gbit 1 Gb x 8 / 1 Gb x 8 16
2 GB Single sided 2 Gbit 2 Gb x 8 / empty 8
4 GB Double sided 2 Gbit 2 Gb x 8 / 2 Gb x 8 16

Memory and System Bus Speed Considerations
The Intel® Desktop Board DG41TX supports multiple processor and memory speeds. It is important to understand that not all memory speeds are supported with all processor speeds. The table below shows the processor and memory speed capabilities.

800 MHz Memory 1066 MHz Memory 1333 MHz Memory
800 MHz Processor memory runs at 800 memory runs at 800; cannot be overclocked memory runs at 800; cannot be overclocked
1066 MHz Processor memory runs at 800 memory runs at 1066 memory runs at 1066; cannot be overclocked
1333 MHz Processor memory runs at 800 memory runs at 1066 memory runs at 1066; can be overclocked to 1333

Configuring Memory for 1333 MHz
To achieve 1333 MHz memory speeds, you must have a 1333 MHz processor installed. To configure 1333 MHz memory modules in BIOS:
  1. During boot, enter the BIOS setup by pressing F2.
  2. Go to the Performance menu.
  3. Read and accept the warning (select Yes and press Enter).
  4. Select Memory Configuration and press Enter.
  5. In the SDRAM Control option, select Manual - User Defined.
  6. In the Memory Frequency option, select 1333 MHz.
  7. Press the F10 key to Save and Exit BIOS Setup.
